Adoption Update, 06.26.14

Any updates?

Do you guys have an update?

We’ve been getting that question quite a bit lately, especially since it’s been so long between blog updates.

The short answer is: no referral yet. Things are still up and down with the process in Ghana…there has been progress forward and backward over the last few months and we’re hoping it will continue to move forward.

I (Curtis) would like to address those of you who are discouraged because you’ve been praying, fasting, etc. for our referral to come, and have seen no results. Does that make your prayers wasted? I don’t think so.

I’m operating under the assumption that your prayers are powerful and effective.

Even though we don’t have the official news we have been waiting for, things are definitely going on behind the scenes. This is true with the governmental process in Ghana, but it’s even more important when it comes to our child. Chances are, our child has been born in the last 2 1/2 years since we started this process. Our child has become an orphan in this time period–due to death, illness, poverty or abandonment by his/her biological parents. We will never understand the loss our child has experienced in his/her short life so far.

So, your prayers have been covering all these things and more. They have not been in vain. God is at work. We would definitely like Him to hurry it up, but we are continuing to yield to and trust in God.

We would ask the same of you: continue to trust God for our adoption. Keep praying. We need this child in our lives. We need you all to lean on when we’re having hard days. This waiting period has been excruciating at times.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

-Hebrews 10:23

  1. Thank you for your encouraging words about the whole subject of prayer. Prayer is mysterious at times, and I appreciate your reminder that we don’t always know the ins and outs or the highways and byways by which our prayers are answered. May you experience peace and hope as you wait for your dear child.
